I’ve always struggled with finding a “home.” I used to think that we all need one physical place where we belong to be fulfilled.

I’m always asked by friends and family: “When will you stop traveling and just settle down in your home country?!” My answer is always “maybe some day” or “we’ll see” because my perspective has changed so much over the years.

Maybe we don’t need to belong to one place. Maybe we can belong to several and hop around our entire lives. Why not? Changing my views on what home means has really opened up many life possibilities for me. It’s very freeing!

Beautiful piece filled with so much wisdom! Great work as always, Begüm. Thank you for sharing!

(Also, İstanbul ranks very high on my list of “homes.” It’s such a lovely city. My favorite! I spent 6 months there once and have visited so many times. Hoping to head there again soon. Wonderful that it’s your hometown! ❤️)
