On acceptance and letting go.

Working in recruitment, I interact with people daily. I read, write, and reply to dozens of emails per week. Some more memorable than others.
I remember someone I contacted about a role once telling me, “Can you please ensure I have a chance at getting an interview? I’ve interacted with your company before and spent so much time on my application, but never reached the interview phase.”
But there aren’t any assurances about job applications or life.
Guess what? You’ll waste a lot of time on things that go nowhere.
With jobs, as a recruiter, I can’t guarantee you’ll get an interview. I can’t even guarantee you’ll make the long list. Yes, even if I target you based on what I see in your profile.
What I can guarantee is that I’ll answer all your questions, provide you with timely feedback, and even take time for a call.
If you’re seeking assurances, you’re seeking the wrong thing. You can never be sure of anything. And you need to learn to live with that or life will be a never-ending struggle. Don’t do things with the mindset “this better work.”
Do things with a more open outlook:
“This may not work, but I’m going to try anyway.”
