This goes for Morocco as well. We live in such vibrant, beautiful countries but, unfortunately, our women and girls are constantly being abused in the name of religion...

This article felt like reading my own diary entry. All I'd have to do is replace Iran with Morocco! I resonated with every word. Women across MENA are forced to grow up so early. We become aware of how "sinful" our bodies are at such a young age.

I'm glad you were able to move to America. I was born there but my parents made the mistake of moving us to Morocco when I was 8. Now, 18 years later, I'm seriously considering moving back.

Being a woman in this region is a heavy burden. I also recall seeing how differently my male cousins and brother were treated. I remember wishing I were a boy :P
