This is exactly how North African and Middle Eastern cultures see their children as well. It’s so exhausting to have to constantly think about what others may say or think of how I live my life. I’m also American and have to oscillate between my parents’ culture and the mix I happen to be.

I’m glad you’ve decided to push against traditions you don’t agree with. I really admire how you’ve decided to hold on to who you truly are. I wish you all the best, Ryan. Thank you for being so honest about your experience with us. It’s important to hear different perspectives.
