Why Passion Isn’t Enough

I hear this word all the time. Passion. What are you passionate about? What is your true passion? But these are the wrong questions to be asking. The correct question to ask yourself should be “What is your Purpose?”

Passion will only get you so far. You may be passionate about writing. But if you don’t write every single day, even if it’s only one sentence, you probably won’t succeed at it. You may be passionate about creating recipes. But if you don’t test recipes out regularly, you probably won’t become a top food blogger.

Your purpose is essentially your mission, it’s where you’re going. Your purpose should combine something you are good at, something others can gain value from, and something that you enjoy doing. You can have several interests and passions, of course, but only a few would meet all three criteria. Ask yourself the following: What energizes me? What gets me up in the morning? Be honest with yourself.

You hear a lot about “finding your purpose.” Many thought leaders and so-called lifestyle gurus preach the importance of finding this purpose that will fulfill you and bring you joy. However, I believe that it is less about finding and more about experiencing, testing, and trying different things until you realize the golden combination.
