Yes, honor killing is a really huge problem in so many countries.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t include every story I read (I may write a follow-up…I’m afraid the list of women who’ve been subjected to femicide and honor killing is much, much longer…), but there was one in particular where a father was acquitted for murdering his daughter because the court deemed he did it for “honorable reasons.” It’s such a problem that even certain legal systems don’t bother pursuing the perpetrators…

Certainly, knowing that there are women out there who have no choice and cannot escape their fate honestly keeps me up at night. No one should live in oppression and fear, exactly. It’s a really sad reality that I felt the need to share to raise some awareness. I think any little thing we can do can help.
